About the artist
Olya Lookoye

Olya Lookoye tells magical stories in paintings about private life against the background of rich cultural and historical contexts.

Through irony and a childlike взгляд, grand events lose their pathos, while human private life, on the contrary, becomes significant.

Her paintings turn to the unconscious, to the shadow sides of phenomena, to what usually hides behind everyday reality. Mysticism coexists with observation, the symbolic with the domestic, the fantastic with precise signs of the time. Fairy tale here is not an escape from reality, but a way to see it more deeply.

Technique: tempera painting on paper and canvas, watercolor, mixed media, digital graphics.

Olya Lookoye was born and received her art education in Novosibirsk. Since 2022, she has lived in exile. She currently lives in France.

Since 2016, she has participated in exhibitions in France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Kazakhstan, and Russia. Her works are held in private collections in Austria, Russia, France, and Turkey.
